5 Spring Tops You Can Take Into Summer- Style Ideas

The air is getting warmer, the snow is melting, and I am ready to transition my closet into spring!

When I shop for new pieces for my wardrobe, I try to find items that I can style multiple ways, and for multiple seasons. It keeps me from filling my closet with things that I won’t wear, or will only wear once or twice.

I ordered a few new pieces for spring , and I was excited to throw some new outfits together!

I have styled 5 tops in an outfit spring geared and one that’s a bit more summery! I am big on finding good key pieces to my wardrobe, and fun accessories to mix and match outfits! My MUST haves are a few good pairs of high waisted jeans and shorts (distressed is my jam!), hats, wrap bracelets, simple rings, and statement earrings! It makes it easy to take a core clothing item and build many outfits with it.

1. Peachy Tee

Tee– code APRIL15 for 15% off // Mom Jeans // Mom Shorts // Hat // Converse // Bralette– code APRIL15 for 15% off // Bracelet

I am OBSESSED with this top. It is a loose, cropped fit and is the perfect pair for my mom jeans AND mom shorts! The number 1 thing I’ve heard about mom jeans is that people don’t know how to style them. Well- this might be my favorite way. If you haven’t figured it out yet, simple is the name of the game here! 😉 I am a sucker for a good graphic tee that fits well, and this one doesn’t disappoint! My favorite thing about graphic tees is the endless outfits possibilities!

2. Rainbow Cinched Hem Hoodie

Hoodie // Jegging // Shorts- similar HERE // Bracelet // Bralette– code APRIL15 for 15% off // Converse // Hat- similar HERE

I honestly didn’t want to take this one off. Those colors, the neckline, the softness, all of it is just GOOD. It’s cozy enough for spring days, but also has serious beach vibes. And look how well it pairs with colored jeans/shorts! I can’t get enough. 😍

3. Lightweight Colorful Cropped Sweater

Sweater // Jegging // Shorts, similar HERE // Booties // Sandals, similar HERE // Bracelet // Earrings

This one is a little out of my comfort zone (see #5. 😉) but I am loving these colors! It’s one of those sweaters that you find yourself drawn to every time it’s clean. I know the shorts and sweater look isn’t for everyone, but this Wyoming girl is a fan!

4. Chambray Top/Outdoor Tee

Tee // Chambray Shirt // Cropped Jegging // Shorts, similar HERE // Mules / Sandals // Bracelet // Earrings, similar HERE

I styled these same tops with black leggings over on my Instagram yesterday, but I couldn’t wait to see how they looked with my go to green bottoms. Honestly, you just can’t go wrong with a good tee and chambray shirt. I’m naming them closet must haves!

5. Kimono & Basic Tank/Tee

Kimono, similar HERE // Tank // Jegging // High Waisted Shorts // Bracelet

It’s no secret that I gravitate towards earth tones and neutrals. These are outfits I can see myself repeating frequently! An easy switch from Jegging crops to shorts and your summer ready. This look is simple, comfy, and flattering- what more could you ask for?! Bonus- this tank is only $8 and comes is a wide variety of colors. After putting this one on, I added a few more to my cart ASAP.

Which one is your favorite?! Comment and let me know!

Being a SAHM casual is the name of the game 90% of the time, so these outfits will DEFINITELY get some use! I’m hoping to do a similar post soon with some dressier items. Stay Tuned! Until then if you have any questions about the items shown, or are needing outfit help, you can always contact me here or over on Instagram!

Sweater Round Up!

Top Left // Top Right // Bottom Right // Bottom Left // Middle

The air is finally getting crisp, which means SWEATER WEATHER. I’m a huge fan of cozy pullovers and cardigans for fall and winter. They are versatile, and I love layering them with fun plaids, cute tees, worn over dresses, the list goes on!

Below I have rounded up some great ones from my favorite retailers. I chose some great neutrals that will be easy to transition for different outfits, plus some fun patterned ones! As much as I love new clothes, I have been making more of an effort to purchase items I know I can curate multiple outfits with. That was my goal with this round up! I have also linked some of my favorite pieces to pair with sweaters at the end of this post. Under each group of photos will be links that will take you to the individual item of your choice!

Amazon

Top Left // Top Middle // Top Right // Bottom Left // Bottom Middle // Bottom Right

I love a good Amazon find (hellooo free prime shipping!), and these sweaters are all so good! I recommend reading reviews for sizing, and I always use Prime Wardrobe so I can try out the items before paying. Returns are very easy that way too! I have saved all of these to my Amazon shop for quick browsing. You can find it here!

American Eagle

Top Left // Top Middle // Top Right // Bottom Left // Bottom Middle // Bottom Right

Truthfully, about 80% of my wardrobe came from American Eagle or Aerie. I LOVE their jeggings, and basically everything else. I personally own the top left and top right sweaters and wear them frequently! I have my eye on the rest, and I am sure it won’t be long until they are hanging in my closet too.

*style tip- button up cardigans look so cute done up and tucked in front and it adds another outfit idea in to the rotation.

Old Navy

Patterned Sweater // Long Cardigan // V-Neck Sweater // Cardigan

Old Navy is another go-to for me because I can shop for my whole family and they are almost always having a sale of some sort.

The cardigan on the far right has been a favorite of my followers for a few weeks, and a favorite of mine as well! It is a gorgeous color and pairs so nicely with a lot of different outfits. I also own the v-neck sweater and the color screams fall! It is also long enough to wear with leggings.

Target

Cardigan // Animal Print Sweater // Chenille Sweater // Leopard Print Sweater

That cardigan is what dreams are made of friends. It comes in multiple colors and I can almost guarantee you’ll have a hard time choosing just one. Animal prints are a trend I am obsessed with this fall. Both of these sweaters would look great layered with a solid button up underneath, or worn alone. I have a chenille sweater that I purchased from another retailer for almost twice as much last year. This one comes in multiple colors, but I love that emerald shade to carry through to the holiday season!

Maurices

Buffalo Plaid // Mustard Cardigan // Striped Pullover // Colorblock Pullover

If you are looking for a variety of fun patterns, Maurices has you covered. They also have frequent sales- right now all sweater are BOGO 50% off, plus free shipping on orders over $50!

Pink Blush & Pink Lily Boutique

Pink Blush-Top Left // Top Middle // Top Right

Pink Lily- Bottom Left // Bottom Middle // Bottom Right

These two boutiques have a wide variety of unique products, and have frequent sales! I have had the pleasure of working with them both, and have always loved the quality of their items. I own the rust sweater from Pink Blush and it is SO cozy! It it perfect for leggings too!

Make it an Outfit

Top Left // Top Middle // Top Right // Bottom Left // Bottom Middle // Bottom Right

Distressed jeans and a hat would pair well with pretty much any of the sweaters above. If layering is your thing, a good graphic tee or loose tank are an easy add. Plaid shirts under cardigans or even under a solid pullover add a little pop to a fall outfit. I am also a big fan of pairing a pullover over a dress this fall!

I hope this round up was helpful, and if you need any further styling help feel free to reach out! Use the menu above for contact info!

Family Photo Outfits

*This post was originally posted in June 2019, and was edited to add updated links to similar items on July 13, 2020!

Recently my sweet friend (and amazing photographer) Alex, asked myself and a fellow mama Sarah to help her with a little project she was doing. She wanted to put together a Family Photo Outfit post with some different perspectives, and I was more than happy to help! Outfit planning is a hobby and passion of mine, so I was excited to contribute. After spending the time researching and putting it all together, I wanted to come here and expand a little more on my thought process and my tips for choosing these outfits! To read Alex’s in depth blog post click here! She has complied a TON of great info on her Instagram as well!

When we first started this, Alex took a poll on IG and asked her followers to choose a retailer and budget for me. Old Navy was the most common answer, and they set my budget at $200. To be honest, I was worried that I wouldn’t be able to pull it off. Having 5 people to plan outfits for is a task, but even more so at ONE store and with a set budget. I was pleasantly surprised at how easy and fun it was to do though!

My first step was to head to Pinterest for inspiration. Having visuals always helps me put everything together! Most of my outfits for pictures are inspired by Pinterest in some way! Whether it’s an outfit/piece (usually for me! 😉), a specific color to build on, or even just a vibe I like! From there I found my color schemes. I wanted to make sure I had a few colors to work with so that finding cohesive pieces for all 5 outfits wasn’t AS challenging. Having those colors to refer back to helped keep my search organized and focused. For this first set, I wanted a brighter color scheme more geared for spring/summer.

Total- $142.94

I was originally only going to do one set, but I had so much fun that Alex gave me the go ahead to do another! I wanted this one to be versatile for multiple seasons. Depending on accessories/shoes I feel like these outfits could easily be used for Spring/Summer/Fall for sure, maybe even Winter! Again, I looked to Pinterest for color inspiration. Neutrals and earthy tones are great to add in the mix, because they’re generally easy to find for everyone and it adds balance to the other colors.

*note- this exact Womens dress is sold out, so I included a similar one again!

Women’s- Dress, similar HERE– $24.97

Boys- Shirt, similar HERE – $15,00 // Pants. similar HERE– $12.50

Baby/Toddler Boy- Shirt, similar HERE– $8.00 // Pants, similar HERE $17.00

Men’s- Shirt, similar HERE– $20.00 // Jeans, similar HERE– $19.97

Total- $149.44

The great thing about Old Navy is they are constantly having sales! When I first compiled these outfit sets, the total came in at $200 for each. Today they came in under! My advice- watch for those sales! You could use the left over funds for accessories, shoes, or just enjoy that extra savings!

Some outfit building tips –

I usually start by finding my own outfit, because let’s face it, it is usually the hardest! I like to find things I know I will feel confident in and will accentuate the features I like the most. After that I go on to find pieces for everyone else- making sure to focus on things that everyone would feel comfortable in and could be worn day to day afterward! I try not to make my family wear things that might annoy them, because it will show in the photos. I also feel better about spending the money on the outfits knowing they weren’t for a one time use! My husband for instance, is very simple in his style. I try to find things that fit his casual vibe, but still work for the overall feel. Opting for a Henley or Polo shirt is an easy switch he can usually do! I am a big fan of layers and texture, so any chance you get to add jackets, sweaters, knee high socks, suspenders, hats, vest, etc etc. – DO IT.

I am so glad Alex asked me to collab on this! It was a blast and I hope to get to do more things like this in the future! ❤️
