They Call Me Mama.

No one can prepare you for the high volumes of love that fill your heart when you become a mother, just like no one can prepare you for how hard it can be.

Its only fitting that the thing that brings us the most joy also tests our sanity and patience.

We learn to soak up the small moments, take all the pictures, and the power of a few deep breaths.

We learn that there is no such thing as a perfect mom. That there are different ways to parent and it’s OKAY.

There are hard days. Days where we don’t feel like we can keep giving it all, but somehow we do.

It isn’t easy to see the beauty when you’re in the thick of it all, but these are the days we will one day look back on and wish we could go back and slow time down a bit.

Motherhood is messy, chaotic, wonderfully beautiful, and unlike anything else.

I’m incredibly blessed to have these three precious souls call me mama.

Happy Mother’s Day to all of you wonderful mamas out there. 🤍

It’s Okay to Just Survive.

Hey mama.

If you are doing more surviving than thriving- this is for you.

(Thanks Jill for that ever so accurate phrase. 😉)

Every time I open my Instagram or Facebook I am greeted with moms who seemingly look like they have it all together. Art projects, perfect schedules, and at home work outs fill up my feed.

Most of me is thinking “Yay you! Get it girl!”, but there is that part of me who gets sucked into feeling less than. Cue the mom guilt.

Navigating 2020 hasn’t been easy for me. I’ve been riding a roller coaster of emotions- for every few “I got this” days, I have a “NO you don’t” day.

Some days everything works. The house gets cleaned, the schedule is followed, the fights are minimal, and we might even squeeze in a fun activity. But those days of simply surviving are VERY real too and that’s okay.

If you’re feeling less than, remember that those kids don’t care if you are perfect. You might not be thriving, but you showed up and that’s what matters.

No matter how your day goes,

YOU are a good mom.

6 Pairs of AE Jeans I Can’t Live Without

If you have been around my IG or here for any length of time, you know that I am loyal to my American Eagle jeans! They are the only brand I purchase anymore. AE has such a wide range of sizes, lengths, rises, and styles- making them perfect for every body! All of the choices can often make choosing a pair (or 4 😉) a little overwhelming. I have been asked a few times for help picking out the right pair, but a DM I received this week sparked a little inspiration for blog post!

I was asked if I had to choose 4-5 pairs that were my absolute favorite, which would I choose? Um. CHALLENGE ACCEPTED. I narrowed it down to 5 for her and shared WHY I loved them. After reading back through it, I decided I would type it up so I could easily share with everyone, and update my favorites as time went on! I did end up adding another pair afterward, but I love them too much to leave them out! 😉

So, here we go! The SIX AE jeans I can’t live without, in no particular order. Bonus points? They have great sales ALL the time, and right now all jeans are 40% off!

1. Go-To Everyday Jeggings

Those jeans that you gravitate towards because they fit so well and pair perfectly with everything? These are it. They are the highest waist option, and are the perfect medium wash!

2. Lightly Distressed Jeggings

A pair with light distressing is a closet must for me, because they add a little oomph to an outfit, but aren’t over the top. I have owned my pair of jeggings with blown out knees for about two years and they are still my favorite! My exact pair are obviously not available anymore, but these are similar!

3. Distressed Jeggings

These are my favorite distressed jeans! They are high waisted, but not TOO high. Basically your belly will be tucked in, but they won’t sit on your rib cage. 😉 the holes are also off set and not too high up the leg, which I like.

4. Light Wash Jeggings

I don’t wear a light wash too often, but I love having them in my closet- especially for spring and summer outfits! These have the perfect amount of distressing, and are also high waisted.

5. Curvy Jegging

American Eagle made curvy jeans- and all the moms rejoiced! With a little extra hip room, but snug in all the right places these are a must! They come in a WIDE variety of washes and styles, but having a good medium wash is never a bad idea. 😉

6. Mom Jean

Last but not least Mom Jeans. I’ve mentioned before that I was skeptical about them for a long time, but I love how they fit! I can’t wait to put together more outfits with them this spring.

Finding a good pair of jeans is always hard, so I hope this was helpful! As always, if you have any questions or need help you can reach out through the blog, or DM me on Instagram!

Girls Night at El Five

Last month I had the opportunity to travel and meet up with some of the best internet friends for a much need mom’s weekend in Denver. To kick it off we got dressed up and had a night out hosted by the restaurant, El Five! With a detailed and diverse Tapas menu, we were all a little out of our element, but excited to try something out of our comfort zone.

Upon arriving we were instantly drawn in by the gorgeous fifth floor view of downtown Denver and the intimate feel of the restaurant. The restaurant has a edgy and unique vibe with perfectly placed mirror accents and gorgeous wall portraits. Another fun addition is the chefs counter if you prefer a more interactive dinner experience.

I was highly impressed by the attention to detail and diverse seating areas! Our table was in the main dining area, next to the chefs counter and provided a great view of the restaurant and downtown. Despite it being a busy Friday night, the intimate seating area allowed us to still enjoy each other’s company.

Possibly my FAVORITE part was the patio. With those downtown Denver views on one side and the mountains on the other, it was absolutely breathtaking. It was a little too chilly to be seated out there at the beginning of February, but if the weather would have permitted it would have been my area of choice!

If you find yourself in Denver and wanting to try something new and different, I would recommend El Five! Make sure to take a look at my friend Alecia’s blog post for a detailed review of the tapas menu HERE, and Sam’s post HERE for a closer look at the AMAZING drink menu!
